“LOMBARDI, LTD.”

HIS MAJESTY’S THIS EVENING At His Majesty’s Theatre this evening at eight o’clock the J. C. Williamson, Ltd., management will present for the first time to theatregoers of Auckland the great New York comedy star, Leo Carrillo, together with a remarkably line supporting company, in the successful and unique comedy triumph, “Lombardi, Ltd./’ which was specially written for Carrillo by Frederick and Fanny Hatton, and which is proving the most successful theatrical attraction New Zealand has known for some years. Seats in central positions for this evening’s and subsequent performances may be selected until five o’clock at the box office and afterward the plans will be on view at liis Majesty’s Theatre. It is said that Leo Carrillo really lives the part of the laughing, irrepressible, too impressionable Tito Lombardi, the idol of his charming employees, the innocent victim of one who seeks by alluring seductive methods to embroil him in a scandal. “Carrillo,” wrote a critic, "can make his audience laugh or sympathise with him at will and his outstanding personality captures them immediately ho appears on the stage.” Aucklanders are being given the privilege of enjoying the artistry of Mr. Carrillo in -Lombardi, Ltd.,” before Londoners, but it is the intention of the Williamson. Ltd., management to present the talented actor in one of their own London theatres after the approaching Melbourne season which begins on March I. Miss Barbara Buddy, who appears as the pert and diminutive mannequin, and Miss Margaret Cullen-Landis, as the beautifully-formed model of Lombardi’s salon, were associated in the New York success of “Lombardi, Ltd..” and they will make their first appearance here in these roles this evening. Others in the cast are Miss Rowen Ronald (last here with the Dion Boucicault Company), Natalie Moya (last here with “Young Woodley”), Brandon Peters (last here with “The Patsy”), Daphne Bairn (.last here in “The Trial of Mary Dugan”), Leslie Victor, Maidie Hope, Beatrice Kendrick, Elma Gibbs. Jack White and George Kensington. Then there is also a bevy of beau%ful girls, including Marjorie Statham (daughter of Sir Charles Statham) and other ladies well known .in Auckland, wearing some ravishing gowns in the spectacular mannequin parades in Lombardi’s magnificently appointed atelier. Only eight nights can be devoted to the Auckland season of “Lombardi. Ltd./’ and .matinees will be staged on Saturday and Wednesday next. Mr. Warde-Morgan is the stage manager.
