MOTOR-CYCLING
INVITATION TO NEW ZEALAND RIDERS ISLE OF MAN RACE , The question of sending a motorcyclist home to represent the New Zealand Auto-Cycle Union in the Tourist Trophy races at the Isle of 31*.n has been freely discussed by the executive of the N.Z.A.C.U. for a number of years. A few years ago Henry Mcller (Hawera) paid a visit to England and took part in these races, gaining a good deal of experience, and on his I return to the Dominion expressed the | opinion that if any New Zealand rider { arrived Home in time to get plenty of j practice, he would take a promj inent part in the races, j It must be pleasing, therefore, to riders of the N.Z.A.C.U. to learn thai | on Monday the secretary of the union, Mr. A. Way, received the following cable from the Engl.sh Auto-Cycle Union: *’'Please cable if New Zealand wou\ like opportunity of sending representative motor-cyclise to ride in Tourist Trophy races in middle of June, if return passage for man and machine provided free by us. Only cost to you would be <£ 1 13s covering insurance and medical charges, plus sustenance when ashore.” The secretary has circularised au ’ registered New Zealand riders with a view to obtaining a list of riders who are prepared to make the trip on the above terms, the only expense to the rider being his board at Home. It will be necessary for any rid erJ who are of the opinion that, they capable of taking a prominent part ir these races to submit their names tc the secretary of the union at Martor by February 22. It is quite probable that if there is a large number of af * , pirants a trial race meeting wtl- ; be held to decide on the represents- ! tive.
