WOMAN BANKRUPT
AMPLE ASSETS IN ESTATE
There being ample assets in the estate of Mary Dorothy Dunne, married, of Tirohanga Avenue, Remuera, adjudged bankrupt last November, the Supreme Court will be asked for an annulment of the adjudication.
A meeting of bankrupt’s one creditor with the official assignee, Mr. A. M. Watters, was held this morning. The assignee said the case was one in which the woman was having some work done on a houSe property by a contraactor, who supplied certain materials. Debtor had admitted that she had made herself in some way responsible for payment of the debt, which was owing to the petitioning creditor. The goods should have been paid for by somebody else, M.r. Watters said. The woman had plenty of assets, but the creditor secured a judgment against her on October 15 last, and six weeks later she had been adjudged bankrupt.
Mrs. Dunne’s indebtedness had been £6B. of which £35 had been paid, leaving an outstanding debt of £ 33. Sufficient funds were now available to liquidate the liability and pay all costs. The money would be paid to the petitioning creditor as soon as annulment had been obtained.
