FIRE AT DEVONPORT

The Devonport Fire Brigade received a call to a grass fire in Wairoa Road, Devonport, at about 10.30 p.m. last evening. When the brigade arrived the grass was burning fiercely, but the person who gave the alarm could not be discovered. It is presumed that the fire had been purposely started by some practical joker. As there was more grass in the vicinity, it was burned off in order to obviate the possibility of further outbreaks.
