CITY-DEVONPORT FERRIES NORTH SHORE’S DEMANDS “Either the service given by the ferries 10 or 15 years ago was that space of time ahead of requirements, or the present service is out of date,” commented Mr. S. E. Kennings, chairman of the Waitemata Chamber of Commerce, at Devonport last evening. This, in support of bis contention that a 15-minute passenger ferry service should now’ be instituted during the morning and evening rush hours. In the last few' years, lie said, because Devonport had been made the base of motor routes from Takapuna an-:l East Coast bays, traffic had greatly increased. A deputation from the chamber, which the Devonport Property Owners’ Association is to be invited to join, will wait on the Ferry Company directors to press for a faster service,, a i d also to urge the necessity for an adnight vehicular service to Devonport.
