BATHING ACCIDENT

GIRL INJURES HEAD Severe < head injuries were suffered by Doris Muchamore, aged 13, of 23 Ponsonby Road, when bathing at Pine Island on Sunday. The injured girl, who was spending a day at the island, was diving from the deck of the Kestrel. Haying dived successfully from the deck she climbed on board for a second dive, but on coming to the surface she struck her head heavily against the side of the boat. She was rescued in an unconscious condition. Smart work by the St. John Ambulance and Mr. P. Louison, of the speedboat Hobo, which made the trip of nine miles to the City in 25 minutes, enabled the girl to be admitted to the Public Hospital an hour after the accident. The condition of the girl this morning was regarded as fairly serious.
