William. Cattermole Purdie, science *aa»ter at Marlborough College, was wrowned yesterday afternoon in white’s I?av. Mr. Purdie and a party were swimf»»g in the surf. Some of them got into difficulties in the strong underTO *. and Mr. Purdie, Mr. C. H. Miller Miss: Landon were swept out in «ie breakers. The two Latter got ignore after a great struggle but Mr. jparaie was obsei*ved. floating. After for half an hour, Mr. Purdie washed ashore. Artificial respiration was resorted to tnthout success for two hours.
