THAMES ODDFELLOWS
At one time two Oddfellows' lodges existed in Thames, but a few years back an amalgamation of the two took place. The fusion of the societies has proved satisfactory, and on Saturday evening a social was held in the Kirkwood Street hall to celebrate the linking up of the lodges. Bro. J. Hardman presided. Mr. I*. L. Jenkins, who proposed the toast of visiting brethren, stated that there were 5S branches of Oddfellows’ lodges in the Auckland district, and that the Manchester Unity was the largest friendly society operating in New Zealand. Other speakers curing the evening were Bros. W. AVylde (Xgatea), AY. Kidd (Kerepeehi), R. Inglis (Coromandell, A. J. Briggs, J. llayes. G. Gillard, A. Garrett, and J. Hardman. The usual toast list was honoured, intermingled with songs, stories, and monologues.
