AUCKLAND’S A. AND P. SHOW
MANY ENTRIES RECEIVED PROSPECTS HEIGHTENED The bright prospects for the Auckland Metropolitan Show, to be held at Epsom on February 27 and 28 and March 1, were heightened by the many entries in certain classes which closed last evening, thus lending colour to the expectations of the committee that this year’s exhibition will be the most successful since its inception. The sections for which entries closed last evening were home industries, needlework, roots and vegetables, fruit, honey, butter, and photography, in. all of which the competition promises to be exceptionally keen. This year the space allotted to home industries has been practically trebled to make provision for the addition of roots, fruits and vegetables, poultry, pigeons, and rabbits.
Entries of livestock, which close on Friday next, are coming forward well and it is expected that the exhibition will eclipse all previous records in these sections, North Island championships have been awarded to the show for the first time by the North Island Agricultural and Pastoral Conference, and these prizes are attracting the attention of breeders from all parts.
The 100 per cent, increase in show space booked by firms is also regarded as an indication of the greater interest in this year’s exhibiton.
