ANNA MAY WONG WILL MAKE TWO VERSIONS OF FIRST TALKIE
‘THE ROAD TO DISHONOUR” Having spent four months in Berlin, Anna May Wong the famous Chinese actress, has returned to Elstree, and under the direction of Richard Eichberg will make her first talkie, “The Road To Dishonour.” Anna May Wong Is an alluring person, more exotic, perhaps, than anyone in British studios. She wraps her dark face in a close black hat, and she adorns her dark hands in long na : k that surl forward. She is beau-
tifully dressed, and is quite uuconscious that there is anything incongruous about her Eastern face and American accent. She is startling, but perfectly natural, and, therefore, she is almost alarmingly attractive.
One likes her deep voice, but shivers before her nails. However, one falls an immediate victim to her charm. In "The Road To Dishonour’’ Anna May Wong plays the part of a dancing girl on the borders of Russia and China, She falls in love with a Russian oflicer, but is separated from him by a Russian Grand Duke. John Longclen is her leading man.
Anna May Wong is as clever as she is beautiful. Four months ago she hardly knew a word of German, but today it is said she speaks it like a native.
