250 MEN TO BE TRAINED

MILITARY POLICE FOR SAMOA HON. J. G. COBiBE’S VISIT Press Association WELLINGTON. Today. In reply to a question ‘the Hon. G. W. Forbes, Minister of Lands, stated that the maximum number of men it is proposed to send into carnp for the purpose of the military police force now being prepared in case it is necessary to augment the police already in service in Western Samoa, is 250.

No appointment has yet been made of the officer in charge of the force. It is understood that the Government’s decision as to the necessity for sending reinforcements of police largely depends on the forthcoming visit to Samoa of the Minister of Defence, the Hon. J. G. Cobbe, and that it may be deferred until his arrival there.
