MURDER AND ROBBERY IN CHICAGO

POLICE CONFESS IMPOTENCE CHICAGO, Wednesday. The latest outbreak of crime in Chicago continues. One person was murdered today and two victims of assaults are dying. Many minor cases are reported. In one instance a shopkeeper turned the tables on a gunman by capturing him, but • otherwise the criminals reaped a hardest of loot from a theatre, a bank, residences and shops. Girl bandits were especially prominent today. i Several of them were responsible for highway robberies. One girl attacked a clerk and another stole money and clothing from a cab driver. A mysterious explosion wrecked two shops and damaged others. The police report no success in tracing the perpetrators of crimes committed earlier in the week.
