BOXER SUSPENDED
FACED CARNERA BUT DID NOT FIGHT RIOUX FINED £2OO United P.A.—By Telegraph—Copyright Reed. 1 p.m. CHICAGO, Today. The Illinois Boxing Commission suspended Elzear Rioux and fined him £2OO for failure to give an honest exhibition of skill in the Camera bout. Camera was given a favourable judgment and received the full purse of £3,400. Rioux’s manager insisted that the fight was not “fixed.” He said Rioux was “scared stiff.” When asked why he had failed to fight, Rioux replied: “I tried, but after the first punch, I knew nothing.” Camera, on February 6, at Newark, New Jersey, will meet “Cowboy” Owens, who defeated Rioux and also “Big Boy” Peterson.
