WESTFIELD STOCK SALE WESTFIELD, 11.30 4j.nl. Beef met with a steady demand at late rates at Westfield today. Best ox made to 42s a hundred; best cow and heifer beef made to 38s a hundred. The ox beef offering was made up of 271 head of mostly medium-weight rattle drawn from all parts of the province. The quality, generally, was well up to the average of late sales, some particularly well-finished steers coming from Waikato and Waerenga Valley graziers.’ The demand was not mite so strong as at late sales, and several pens of indifferently finished steers were passed in. Buyers for bigger butchering firms showed a little more discrimination, exhibiting keen interest only in lines of specially wellfinished cattle. A few trucks of North Auckland cattle lacked finish and were not keenly sought after. Top price of the day was secured for a pen of particularly choice prime steers on account William Vosper, Cambridge, which went to T: Baster, Ponsonby, for £l6 17s 6d; 1C in the line averaged £ls 19s 6d. Sixteen solid prime steers on account B. Reed, Waerenga, averaged £ls 16s lOd. Fourteen medium to heavy prime steers on account A. E. Price, Papatoetoe, averaged £l4 5s 2d. Heavy prime well-finished steers on account J. McNicol, Te Aroha, averaged £ls 6s Bd. Thirteen well-finished heavy prime steers on account Trewin Bros., Marehemo, averaged £ls 12s Bd. One truck of medium to heavy prime steers on account A. Martin, Mauku, averaged £l4 10s. Fourteen well-finished steers on account H. A. Swaffleld. Otahuliu, averaged £l4 17s 6d. A line of 16 choice prime solid-boned >*ut not exceptionally big-framed steers on account. Paterson Bros., Motiti Island, averaged £ls IDs. Sixteen choice prime mediumframed steers on account Alex Orr, Hoteo, averaged £ls. The cow and heifer entry was made v.p of the usual mixed assortment shewing slightly above average finish. Dairy sorts predominated. Choice heavy prime young cows and heifers made to £l2 10s; medium prime. £7 Iss to £9; light and small, £6 5s to £7 10s; unfinished and old. from £4 30s. The market for a comparatively heavy yarding of calves was held fairly steady at late rates by exporters. who w€*re free buyers of good plain meaty calves. DEBENTURE ISSUE
