PASTURE RESEARCH
SCIENTISTS AT TE KUITI INVESTIGATION OF SOILS -From Our Own Correspondent TE KUITI, Today. The Pasture Research Committee, consisting of Dr. Denham, chairman, Mr. T. Rigg, assistant-director of the Cawthron Institute, Mr. Q. Donald and Dr. Malcolm and Mr. B. C. Aston, director of research, will arrive in Te Kuiti today. Dr. E. Marsden, secretary of the Department of Scientific: Research, will also accompany the committee, which will inspect the malnutrition areas in the vicinity of Te Kuiti, and also the experimental plots in connection with the research work relating to the troubles among sheep. The committee is responsible to the Empire Marketing Board for the scientific work being carried out on pastures in the Dominion. It is anticipated that, when it has inspected the areas and considered the various reports of the geologists, soil chemists and other scientific workers, a more extensive scheme of operations will be undertaken. This team work is unique, as all branches of scientific research connected with soil, pasture, and tlie animals themselves, are being conducted in conjunction, with a view to ascertaining their direct influence upon each other. The committee will decide whether results obtained so far will justify the continuance and extension of the investigations. It is hoped that the Director-General of Agriculture will be with the party, to hear the discussions and assist in the decisions.
