CANADA’S HIGH COMMISSIONER IN LONDON SUCCESSOR RUMOURED Reed. II a.m. LONDON, Monday. The death is announced of the Hon. Peter Charles Larkin, Canadian High Commissioner in London, aged 74 years. It seems assured that Mr. Vincent Massey, Canadian Minister to the
U.S.A. at Washington, will be recalled to succeed Mr. P. C. Larkin, as Canadian High Commissioner in London. The Hon. Peter Charles Larkin, P.C., was born in Montreal in 1556. He founded a huge firm of tea importers, having branches all over North America, and earned for himself The title of “Tea King of America,” originating the idea of delivering tea to the public iri sealed lead packets. lie was prominent in Toronto as a philanthropist. having been a trustee and vicepresident of the Toronto General Hospital since 1904, president of the Toronto League for the Prevention of Tuberculosis and a member of other similar societies. He was also president of the Toronto Liberai Club. He was said to be the most heavily insured man in Canada.
