To Meet In Auckland
EMPIRE FARMERS ON TOUR PARTIES of farmers from England, Canada and South Africa will meet in Auckland on February 25 to begin a combined tour of the Dominion. They will study conditions and note how New Zealanders are settling problems of common interest.
The party from South Africa is due in Auckland from Sydney by the Ulimaroa on February 18, and a tour of the North will be begun immediately. They will arrive back by express from Whangarei oil February 24. The Englishmen are expected on the following day by the Remuera and, with the other two parties, will be entertained by the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union. ENGLISH VISITORS The Englishmen of the party are all well known at Home. They include: The leader of the party, MR. SAMUEL R. WHITLEY, is a brother of the late Speaker of the House of Commons. He has farmed in Surrey for several years and has been a member of the British Dairy Farmers’ Association for about 30 years, and is connected with the Dairy Research Institute attached to the Reading University. He will be accompanied by Mrs. Whitley. ALCOCK, ARTHUR HENRY, Welling Hill Farm, Charlton Kings, Cheltenham. Dairy and arable farming. For three years had a grain ranch in Montana, U.S.A.
