OVERCROWDED BUSES

WATERVIEW RESIDENTS WAIT ON TRANSPORT BOARD THROUGH SERVICE WANTED Complaining that residents of Waterview, Avondale, often could not find accommodation in Avondale buses at peak hours because of their use by Point Chevalier residents a deputation of residents waited on the Transport Board this morning. Tho spokesman, Mr. F. Craig, said that sometimes Waterview people missed a bus through overcrowding and had to wait 40 minutes. The deputation also asked that sections between Surrey Crescent to Station Road be reviewed on account of short distances between them. A third request was that feeder services now terminating at Pitt Street on Sundays should be carried through to Quay Street.

The chairman. Mr. J. A. C. Allupi. said the reason why the buses ran no further than Pitt Street was that another vehicle would be necessary »' the service were curried right through. About the overcrowding the chairman gave his assurance that when the tram extension was completed different conditions would obtain.

The representations were referred to the bonrd-in-committee.
