ROTORUA NEWS

The Malfroy Geyser in the Government Gardens gave a spectacular display on Sunday afternoon, sending sheets of water to a height of 30ft. This geyser seldom rises above 10ft. There were large congregations at St. Luke's Anglican Church on Sunday. The sermon in the morning was preached by the Rt. Rev. F. A. Bennett, Bishop of Aotearoa. In the evening Archdeacon F. W. Chatterton preached a farewell sermon, prior to leaving with Mrs. Chatterton on an extended tour of England. The railway excursion from Te Kuiti on Sunday brought 289 visitors to Rotorua. They had but six hours here. Mr. L. J. Broolcer, of the Lands Department, has been transferred to Wanganui and leaves tomorow. J-le will be replaced by Mr. J. IL Watson, of Napier. Miss Creasy, one of the English teachers on exchange with New Zealanders, has left the Rotorua School, her term having expired. She will now serve a term with the Wellington Board. One of the principal question to be dealt with by the Hen. P. A. de la Perrelle on his visit to Taupo yesterday was the providing of a new wharf at Taupo. The Minister expressed the view that a new and up-to-date wharf was certainly needed. Major Cowper, of Hamilton Airways, Ltd., has a good number of Rotorua pupils each morning.
