MORNINGSIDE DEVIATION
ABANDONMENT CRITICISED The Government's recent decision to abandon the Morningside deviation project was discussed by a meeting of representatives of local authorities arid ratepayers’ associations from the suburban area on the Kaipara railway at the Chamber of Commerce today. After considerable discussion a resolution was carried to the effect that those present resolve themselves into a committee for the purpose of examining the case against the abandonment, of the deviation and for investigating possible alternative schemes. A sub-committee consisting of Messrs. H. A. Robertson, R. A. Spinley, C. Gardner, M. J. Bennett and W. E. Martin, with Mr. M. Stewart as convener and Dr. E. P. Neale as secretary, was set up to give effect to this resolution.
