REST AND PLAY

PRINCE FETED ON AFRICAN HOLIDAY GIRLS WAIT WITH BOUQUETS United P.A.—By Telegraph—Copyright CAPETOWN, Saturday. The Prince of Wales contracted a cold on his journey to Johannesburg, but today he is much better. After breakfast aud a rest he played a round of golf at the" Country Club’s links with his equerry. It is deemed inadvisable that his Royal Highness should go down the Crown mine, as had been arranged. His train was stopped to allow him to visit the battlefields of Belmont, Magersfontein and the Modder River. Also, he visited a diamond-cutting factory at Kimberley. University girl students desired to present a bouquet to the Prince at Johannesburg, but were not allowed by the police to approach him. However, a seven-year-old girl slipped through the cordon and offered a buttonhole of carnations to the Prince. His Royal Highness shook the little girl’s hand warmly, and spectators cheered him loudly for the courteous act. The Prince left in the evening benefited by the invigorating air. He is due at Bulawayo on Monday morning. There a golf match has been arranged for him. He will leave at noon for Salisbury, Southern Rhode sia.
