SIR ANDREW RYAN HAS NEW POST British Official Wireless RUGBY, Friday. Sir Andrew Ryan h,as been appointed first British Minister to the Hedjaz and Nejd. Sir Andrew has been Consul-General at Rabat, French Morocco, for the past six years, and previously held posts in the British Embassy at Constantinople. He was one of the British delegates at the Near East Conference at Lausanne eight years ago. Ibn Sand, the Wahabi ruler and Sultan of Nejd, conquered the Hedjaz, in 1925. He proclaimed himself Sultan of Nejd and King of the Hedjaz, and in May, 1927, Britain recognised the independence of his dominions by treaty.
