REMOVAL OF POLES

WAITEMATA POWER BOARD CRITICISED RATEPAYERS’ COMPLAINT The refusal of the Waitemata Power Board to contribute toward the cost of removing the electric-power poles required by the reconstruction of the main road from New Lynn, was strongly criticised by members at the annual meeting of the Titiraugi Ratepayers’ Association on Friday evening. It was pointed out that the Post and Telegraph Department had agreed to provide half the cost of removing the telephone poles on this route. The association also adversely commented upon the attitude of some of the county representatives on the board on the subject. Gratification at the sanctioning of the road loan proposal was expressed by the members, who were informed by the county engineer. Mr. A. Murray that the work was expected to be completed. Mr. W. A. Bishop riding member of the Waitemata County Council, addressed the meeting. Officers were elected as under: President, Mr. J. Grierson: commitrnittee, Messrs. F. Carr Rollett, M. L. Wilkins, W. L. Titchener, A. A. Creamer and A. W. Macaudrey.
