DARGAVILLE SHOW

STANDARD MAINTAINED RAIN AFFECTS ATTENDANCE From Our Own Correspondent DARGAVILLE, Saturday. The attendance at the thirty-eighth annual show of the Northern Wairoa Agricultural and Pastoral Association at Arapohue today was somewhat affected by the heavy showers which fell this morning. At about eleven o'clock, however, the rain cleared, and beautiful weather was experienced for the remainder of the clay. The exhibits were well up to the usual standard, and in some cases superior to those of previous shows. The Romney breed predominated in the sheep section, the judge, Mr. Hugh McCarroll, of Mararetu, remarking that they far exceeded expectations, both in number and quality. Fie made special mention of the ewe lambs and ewe hoggets, stating that the class tor a pen of three ewe hoggets was the finest he had seen north of Auckland, and he considered that the animals would be fit to show anywhere in the Dominion. Mr. J. G. Wilson, of Mititai, was among the most successful of the exhibitors, annexing the champion ram, champion ewe, and reserve champion awards. Another outstanding exhibitor was Mr. R. S. Baguley, of liaupo, who secured the awards for both champion bull and champion cow m the dairy stock section (excluding Jerseys). In the Arapohue Hall this evening an excellent concert, held in conjunction with the show, was staged by a°ud/ence! nt t 0 a l£U ' Se and appreciative are'- principal awards at the show HORSES. i/AYY Purpose medium draught: W. hi Btai LLW’ 2; , A ’ Hailing, son i r «T or Seldmg: L.
