Sir. C. Stevens, of Auckland, left by the Maunganui yesterday on a 12 months' tour abroad. Mr. John Farrell. Auckland manager for J. C. Williamson. Ltd., has returned to Auckland from the South. Professor F. P. Worley. M.A., of the staff of the Auckland University College. returned to Auckland by the Limited express today. Dr. C. J. lieakos, director of agriculture, who visited the Ruakura Experimental Farm yesterday, went to Rotorua in the afternoon. Mr. A. R. Merrington, M.A., headmaster of tho To Aroha District High School, has been appointed an inspector for the Wanganui district, and will take up his new duties shortly. Mr. H. Knowles Smith, accountant a! the Te Awamutu branch of the Bank of New Zealand, has received notice of promotion to the position of accountant at the Hamilton branch. Canon 11. R. B. Oillespie, of New Plymouth, arrived at Morrinsville yesterday, and will be instituted as vicar oil St. Matthew's Anglican Church tomorrow afternoon by Bishop CherringSir Emmanuel Hoyle, principal of the firm of Joseph Hoyle and Son, Ltd., woollen manufacturers, of Huddersfield, accompanied by Lady Hoyle, arrived at Auckland from Wellington yesterday. Captain GrifEyth Fairfax, who represented Norwich as Conservative member at the last House of Commons accompanied by Mrs. Fairfax, intends to make a three weeks’ tour in New Zealand.
