MR. TYLER’S POSITION

CIVIL ENGINEERS PLEASED “VERY IMPORTANT POST” Warm congratulations on his appointment as city engineer were extended to Mr. J. Tyler, at a meeting of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Society of Civil Engineers last evening. In moving that a letter expressing the branch’s felicitations be sent to Mr. Tyler, the chairman, Mr. D. Holderness, said that in view of the fact that Auckland was the largest city in the Dominion, the appointment was a very great honour. It was one of the most important posts in New Zealand. Mr. Tyler was to be congratulated on. securing a position so greatly prized. The secretary, Mr. G. T. Murray, was also congratulated on his nomination as the new Dominion president. His installation will take place at the annual meeting of the society, to be held in Dunedin from February 18 to 22.
