AUCKLAND’S HEALTH
FEW INFECTIOUS DISEASES The health of Aucklanders has been exceptionally good during the past month, according to Dr. T. J. Hughes, medical officer of health. He ascribes the city’s and suburbs' comparative immunity from infectious diseases to the mildness of the weather conditions and the almost entire absence of extreme heat. The authorities feared for a recurrence of the outbreak of dysentery that affected.so many people in the first two months of last year, but so far there has been no sign of any development of this malady. Scarlet fever and diphtheria, prevalent a few months ago, have been steadily diminishing and during the past two weeks only one or two eases have been reported, these being of a mild type.
