LOCAL GOODS COMPULSORY FOR STATE SERVICES RAILWAYS LOSE HEAVILY Reed. 9.5 a.m. TOKYO, Thursday. Following Government injunctions to utilise Japanese products instead , imported, 373 items used by the Ra way Department are now official listed for compulsory use of lioi made supplies. This has caused a r duction of over 80 per cent, of forei articles used on the railways, and the substitution of Japanese goods for them. Due to the retrenchment and business depression a decrease in the income of the Government Railways is the biggest in history. Whereas normally the annual increase is ten per cent., in recent months the loss in income has approached £20,000,000.
