After the failure of the New Zealand batting in the first test and the severe defeat administered by the M.C.C., our prestige was restored in a wonderful way at the start of the second test by the great opening partnership of Mills (left) and Dempster, who made a New Zealand record by scoring 276 runs for the first wicket.
