NICHOLS TO COACH IN NEW ZEALAND?
It is reported that the “heads’* of one or twe cricket associations are desirous of arranging for M. S. Nichols, Essex professional in the M.C.C. team, to come out again to the Dominion, as a coach. Though not the most attractive, Nichols is the most useful ah-roundsr that A. H. H. Gilligan’s team has. Obdurate defence is the outstanding feature of his batting, and he is the hardest man in the side to dislodge. Nichols is a trier all the time, in batting, bowling, or fielding. He is an excellent fieldsman. Frequent experience of his fast bowling would be very useful to New Zealand batsmen. Nicnols is a cricketer all the year round In the English winter he joins F. J. Durston, of Middlesex, and A. Sandham, of Surrey, in conducting a school of cricket. He would be a good coach for a New Zealand association. “Nick” is a very likeable fellow.
