J. Enthoven and K. S. Duleepsinhji. Later in the same season he also played for Leicestershire, and he has contin- . ued playing for that county when | he could, as well as for his University. For Leicestershire, in 1926, he scored his first century in county cricket, and in 20 innings for the county that year he averaged 31.13 in 15 innings, with a highest score of 94. Going to South Africa with Captain R. T. Stanyfortli’s M.C.C. team in 192728, Dawson failed to reproduce his English form on the matting wickets. On the tour, he became engaged to a South African girl In England in 1928, when he was captaining Leicestershire, he led his team skilfully ami also showed very fine batsmanship at times. Playing 43 innings for the : county he averaged 33.53. Some of his best performances during the past English county season were:—lo3 against Surrey and 83 for the Rest v.
