NEWCOMERS AT TAKAPUNA BEST STABLE TO FOLLOW There are a couple of dozen horses listed on th© Takapuna card tomorrow that were not seen in action on Anniversary Day, and there are one or two among - them that could probably be followed to advantage. Here are the races in which the new blood is engaged tomorrow: Moana Handicap.—Royal Lover, Welcome '.Boy, Ruapatu, Rose Willonyx, Section, Lady Eustace and Aggressive. Waiwera High-Weight. Glena Bay and Salamander. Wynyard Plate. —Cruachan. Joy Girl, Ex Dono, Lillton, Trig and Praetor. T.J.C. Handicap.—Hyde Park. Hobson Handicap.—Rafflight, Betterment and Trickle. Anniversary Handicap.—Macroom, Valuation and British King. There are no new horses in the Rangitoto Hack. Takanini Stable in Form On Wednesday horses from J. T. Jamieson’s Takanini stable were in excellent form. Bold Archer was at long odds in the opening event, and obviously he was not expected. Later on for this fellow. The stable had nothing in the HighWeight, but its presence was certainly felt in the Zealandia Handicap, when Mithra got up on the post to score for her popular owner at double figures The price suggested that the stable was not prepared to see Mithra lead the field home. Refresher, the sole hope in the sprint, was not produced. Enter Tragedy In the Takapuna Cup the two stable mates. In the Shade and Lo Choucas, ran about a dead-heat fox’ fifth place, and the tragic hand of Fate stepped in in the next event, Relation being made the medium of a big plunge. This colt was bowling along nicely until he was seen to falter three furlongs from home and was pulled up on the home bend. It was an injured shoulder that brought about the destruction of Mr. W. E. Bidwill’s promising three-year-old. Hard Words made amends by pulling off the two-year-old event at odds on, but Havaspot was a good thing downed an the Hauraki Hack, his backers losing nearly half of their investments. This closed the day for Jamieson s string, and all round it was quite a success, seven horses returning £6OO in stakes and £ls 3s in dividends over *2OO per cent, on investments. String This same stable promises to play a strong hand again tomorrow, for it will be represented in the following races:—• AVynyard Plate. —Havaspot. Suburban Handicap.—Eaglet. Jockey Club Handicap.—ln the Shade, Le Choucas and Mithra. Hobson Handicap.—Hard Words and Smithfield. Anniversary Hand ic a p—M ith r a From the above list it looks as if backers who stick to the stable again tomorrow should be able to show another nice profit on the day’s totaiisator operations. Brackets All going well there will be a threehorse bracket in th© opening event, the Moana Handicap, tomorrow. The trio are On Top, Section and Measurer. The first two went under the hammer today, so probably, in the event of their having changed hands, the bracket will at least be reduced. Although J. T. Jamieson has three representatives —In the Shade, Le Choucas, and Mithra —engaged in the Jockey Club Handicap they will not be bracketed, for they all race in different ownership. Hard Words and Smithfield will again be coupled in the two-year-old race. WAIROA WINNERS TE AWHA COMPLETES DOUBLE Press Association WAIROA, Thursday.
