Many parts of Northern and Western Queensland that have been dry for years are now inland seas, and in some parts train passengers have been marooned in railway carriages for a fortnight. Two horsemen at different parts were drowned when their horses plunged into surging waters, and a third man was drowned at Cunnamula. There is now a complete stoppage of railway services in the north and west. Approximately a thousand passengers are stranded at different parls. Supplies of foodstuffs at Mount Isa are running short as the town has been isolated for a fortnight.
