LENIENCY APPRECIATED “Thank you very much, and a happy New Year,” said William John Hamilton, when Mr. F. K. Hunt., S.M., imposed no punishment on him at .he Police Court this morning. Hamilton, a labourer, aged 73, was charged with be.ng found without excuse on the enclosed premises of the Gas ‘Works, Devon port, yesterday. Pleading guilty, the old man ventured on a stumbling explanation. There was a man who had some money for him as the result of a bei. and he wanted it, he declared. “He was ordered out of the works but became abusive.” said Ser ior Sergeant O’Grady. “He was under the influence of liquor.” “He has no: been here since June. Let him go,” was the magistrate’s comment.
