Turnbull added a single to his over- * night score when facing the bowling j of Massey, and by several singles the j M.C.C. score mounted to 80 runs. The Wairarapa fielding was again conspicuous by its keenness. Bowley became aggressive, and only smart fielding prevented several boundaries. Massey’s bowling kept a good length, few’ runs -were being added. Bowley was almost stumped at 64. j Bowley, with a single, brought the M.C.C. score to the century after 85 minutes from the opening of the inn- j ings. Morton, bowling from the southern end. was punished by both batsmen but keen fielding kept the score to singles. Turnbull after being at the wickets 50 minutes reached 20 with singles. Bowley. playing stylish cricket, sent Hoard to the boundary. When tiie total was 123 Falioon tried the southern end but 11 runs were scored off his first over. At 25 Turnbull was given out lbw. Score: 2 —134. Earl© joined Bowley and sent Hoard to the pavilion for four. The r»xt delivery he skied to the outfield, where Montgomery dropped the catch. Wairarapa’s first innings total was passed, both batsmen scoring freely all round the wicket. The 150 was reached in 112 minutes with Bowley requiring four to reach the century. A few minutes later Bowley reached, the hundred, taking 117 minutes. Although the batsmen were hitting out Blamires, the Wairarapa captain, had his field well placed. Bowley sent Massey to the boundary twice in succession and Earle reached his 20 in 25 minutes. Blamires, at 185, went on and off his first over seven were added to the M.C.C. score. A three to Earle brought the 200 within easy range. At 25 Earle sent one up in the air, but Patrick missed a comparatively easy catch. With a fine offdrive to the boundary Earle brought the 200 up. Facing Massey, Bowley, after a fine display for 124 in 135 minutes, was given out lbw. Score. 3—200. Woolley joined Earle and the latter sent Blamires to the boundary and at the next ball the first six of the game was scored. The next delivery also went to the boundary, belt with the following ball Blamires got Earle’s wicket. Score, 4 —214. Earle had scored 44 in a short forceful inning Allom was the next man. Woolley, with a single off Massey, opened his account and a four to him brought the 220 up. The scoring slowed down considerably and at the luncheon adjournment the score was 225 for four wickets, Woolley not OLit 9, and Allom, not out, 1. Details are:

YESTERDAY’S PLAY WAIRARAPA’S INNINGS Press Association MASTERTON, Wednesday. After delay owing to rain, play was commenced this afternoon in the match between the M.C.C. team and Wairarapa. The home side won the toss and decided to bat. The first four wickets yielded only .28 runs, but Blamires, the Wairarapa captain, and Massey then got together, and made a splendid stand. Blamires gave a fine display for 49, making some good and forceful shots. He played confidently. Massey also gave a bright display. The other Wairarapa batsmen, except Hoar, did not do much good against Worthington’s fast bowling. Worthington took seven wickets for 31 runs, the last four wickets falling in quick succession. Bowley and Dawson opened the M.C.C. innings. Bowley compiled a forceful 53 unbeaten. Dawson, however, went out for a mode. 14, and at the drawing of stumps for the day. the M.C.C. had one wicket down for 74 runs. Massey, Wairarapa’s moderate fast bowler, had the batsmen troubled.
