FAKED FORECAST
SIMON INDIA COMMISSION REPORT DENIED INVENTED BY JOURNALIST United P.A.—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, Monday. In the House of Commons today Sir John Simon, chairman pf the Indian Commission, drew attention to a report purporting to have been a forecast of the findings of the commission. This was published in a London newspaper. Sir John asked the Attorney-Gen-eral, Sir William Jowitt, whether he •would be able to prevent a repetition of such statements. Sir William explained that in view of the serious nature of the statements lull inquiries had been made. It had been discovered that the newspaper concerned was the unwitting victim of an Indian journalist who had previously been found trustworthy. In the presence of the chairman of the commission a full confession had been extracted from the journalist to the effect that the statements contained in the report were invented by an Indian for the sole purpose of selling them to a newspaper.
