RAIL DEVIATION URGED

KUMEU-MORNINGSIDE LINE Special to THE SIX HELENSVILLE, Tuesday. An undertaking to investigate a proposal to shorten the railway line between Kumeu and Morningside by rhe construction of a deviation, was given by the Hen. \V. B. Taverner, to a deputation from the Kumeu District Ratepayers* Association at Helensvllle on Monday evening. It was pointed out to the Minister that the deviation would reduce the 125 miles between the two stations by half .'*nd would avoid steep gradients and lunnels. The proposed deviation would tap land that would make many small and good holdings.
