WRACKLER’S FINE PROSPECT
Good Sport Promised
THE. summer fixture of the Forbury Park Trotting Club, at 1 which the Dunedin Cup comes up for decision, opens tomorrow and terminates on Saturday. A crood card of items will be presented and some interesting contests can be c - expected. A review of the fields by “Abaydos”'is appended. of the three carnivals staged during: Wrackler, Roi L’Op and Tornkinson the year by the Forbury Park club, the j bracket- n
summer fixture, by virtue of the Cup contest forming an important feature of the card, is considered the main one of the calendar. Each fixture is popular with Southern owners and trainers and the Otago light harness organisation has made excellent, progress since its inception. The Dunedin Cup records show that many of the Dominion’s best handicap horses have taken part in the Southern contest, while among the I*o names inscribed on the honours list, are found such high-grade ones as Great Bingen. Logan Chief, Loganwood. Don Wild. Tatsy Dillon, Willie Lincoln. General Link, Black Admiral and Comcliff. This year, the executive wisely reduced the limit of the chief event from 4.32 to 4.29, with the result that a field of real classy competitors will bo seen settling the issue tomorrow. Good fields are engaged in all the items carded, and the club should have a successful session. Vauxhall Handicap Several of the trotters engaged in this event have recent form to recommend them. Avhile there may be one or two of £he novices on the front line ready to spring a surprise. However, of th© limit lot White Satin will claim most attention and Saka Bona will also have friends. Behind this line, Fifa, Avonness, Standby and Sunspeck are likely to prove troublesome to thoso in front, while Ambition, although well back, will make things interesting. White Satin will be favourite over Saka Bona and Ambition. Electric Handicap
Southland Handicap A big field of novice and improving pacers is listed for this contest, with £ w off the front mark, t wo yv rack representatives, in Captain \\ rack and Lydia will attract attention. while the Donald candidate. Automatic, after his Wellington effort, will be in demand. Automatic will bo with St. George, who if in readiness, should see a short price. John Appear is a useful sort and Millie de Oro can go quickly. Le Thorpe went ’T'imaru and if lie repeated that effort would get some money. The order may finally be Donald bracket and Le Thorpe. Otago. Handicap The better class square gaiters will display their prowess in this event. On Uie front are recent winners in All Feters, Writer and Commander Bingen, and they will offer solid resist.ance to those at the rear. Dipnoi is well placed, and if lie trotted steadily wotud have a chance, but his galloping proclivities do not give punters any security. Nelsonata and Nelson Boy are useful, while Lazarus has not forgotten the way to trot and will b«
This event gives saddle merchants a chance to distinguish themselves and a smart lot they are. Cushla d’Or and Haydock can tramp a merry mile if they begin right. Liberal is a solid customer, while Erin's Fortune is a greatly improved pacer. Wild Spur and Roddy will make a fancied bracket, and on recent form Krina only requires to go away right to give the rest a headache. Marinca is always dangerous in saddle, and Return Voyage. Tarndale and Warepa will add interest to the race. If they go to the post Erin’s Fortune and Krina will be in demand, while if either .defaults Tarndale will have friends.
Musselburgh Handicap A useful field will face the starter for this item, and of the limit contingent Shady Spot and Wild Nita will have most friends. The former is showing improved form. Kreisler and Morning Sun are entitled to respect, while Lily Harold, when right, can go very fast. The penalised Wrackeen. who won so nicely at Wellington, will affair, take a lot of beating. Eugene cie Oro is likely to make those in front of him step merrily to keep out of his way. Chief fancies, however, will probablj be Wrackeen and Shady Spot. Dunedin Cup Fourteen good and well-tried pacers remain in the principal event, including last year’s winner, Glideaway. run-ner-up Roi L’Or (who won tliebig race Th« second day) and Jean McElwyn, who was third each day. Jean forms ono of the limit contingent, her associates being Billy Sea, Athalone, Maiwhariti. The latter will be coupled with. Glideaway and the combination will receive g od support. If back to his best form Linkman would have a rosy chance, while Daphne de Oro is on the improve. Logan Chief won over this, distance recentli', but has a harder bisk here. King Pointer does not appear right yc*t. Quality shaped well at Wellington, but Wrackler 'penalised 12 yards) will probably beat her again. Author Jinks and Roi L’Or should add keenness to a contest in which favouritism may rest with
dangerous. If Bingen Starr gets tho track suitable he will be a hard one to head off, and of the others the consistent and improved Len Wood will have most friends. Best backed may be Lazarus, All Peters and Bingen Starr. King George Handicap There is not a big lot in this beat, and several of the number also claim an earlier engagement in the saddle race. If they are to appear twice, the form of Erin’s Fortune, Liberal. Sunchild, Krina and Roddy in the Electric Handicap, should throw light on their prospects in this struggle. Of the others Mac de Oro and Robert Guy off tho end should go well, and the latter will probably be benefited by his run at Wellington. The purple-bred Nelson McElwyn. looks to be returning to form, while Hector’s Own will give a lot of cheek from well behind the field. There may be most support for Nelson McElv/yn and Roddy. Flying Handicap The final heat of the day will complete the “double,” and again a fine field will take part. Arikitoa and Warepa are the front liners and a useful pair they are. Arikotoa’s recent form suggests that with a good hopaway, he may never be captured. If in readiness Great Logan will be in the boom, while Sunshower has a rare turn of speed if she will use it to advantage. Dilnon has shown splendid form in saddle, and if he does as well in harness would take a lot of beating. Lady Cello is a good mare at the distance, and Talent, Logan Hanlon and Glideaway are well placed. Billy Sea will be putting in solid work at til© end, and Maiwhariti is a speedy customer. Fancies will probably lean toward Arikitoa, Lady Cello and Billy Sea.
