KEEN BOWLING TODAY
AUCKLAND CENTRE TOURNEY UNDER WAY ALL CLUBS BUSY Today was a day of days for bowlers. On the Remuera green a champion of champions tournament organised by the Auckland Bowling Centre, extended players to the utmost, while one-day tournaments occupied the attention of players at the Mount Eden. Auckland and Epsom greens. Good weather left greens in excellent order and keen games were the order of the day. To find the champion rink of Auckland is the object: of the annual centre championship rink competition, organised by the Auckland Bowling Centre, and commenced cn the Remuera greens today. Twenty-two Auckland clubs were represented by one team each, and play began at nine o’clock sharp, prior to the commencement of the games, an official welcome was extended to Mr. G. Gladding, who has just returned from Dunedin as winner of the Dominion pairs championship. The greens were in excellent order this morning, though a little holding after the recent rains. Three rounds of the tourney will be played and three rounds tomorrow’. It is expected that seven rounds at least will have to be played before the winner of the tourney, which is played on tl-e two-life system, is found.
