RIFLE SHOOTING
AUCKLAND CITY CLUB The Auckland City Rifle Club fired the third round of the third trophy series at Penrose last Saturday, the ranges being 500 yards and 600 yards. The extreme heat and dazzling light made high-class shooting very difficult, although the wind was fairly steady. Spoons were won by J. A. Spry and A. C. Watson, and trophy points by J. A. Spry, A. G. Robertson and A. C. Watson in the ratio of 3. 2 and 1. Last week spoons were awarded to J. Spry, R. C. Russell and C. H. Hirst. Details of the scores are as follow: J. A. Spry, 44 at 500 yards, 45 at 600 yards, total S 9; A. G. Robertson, 45, 43 88; W. H. Thompson, 42, 44—56: I. Spry, 44, 41—S5; A. C. Watson. 44. 40—84; R. McLeay, 45, 37—52; R. C. Russell, 40. 41— 81; A. ,7. Pieterson, 43, 36—79; C. J. M. Clark, 41, 37—75; R. J. Bring, 35, 41—76; A. T. Patrick, 34, 41—70: A. Sommerville, 40, 34—74; T. Floyd, 3S. 35—73; Dando, 40, 2S—6S; R. Judkins. 1. AKARANA DEFENCE CLUB The second shoot of the Akarana Defence Riflo Club’s third trophy series was fired over the ranges of 500 and 600 yards for trophies presented by Mr. H. Snell and Mr. W. B. Leyland, under conditions that were not favourable for high scoring. A light rear variable wind was the principal factor in keeping the scores low. Silver spoons were won by Mr. W. Colquhoun and Mr. A. M. Richardson. Trophy points were awarded to the three top men in each section. Details of the shooting are as follow: Section A (Mr. H.
