WOMAN’S THEFT FROM EMPLOYER WARNED BY MAGISTRATE Leaving her employer s house, Betlz Paton slipped a few things in her bag that did not belong to her. ‘Tf you are charged with theft again you will go straight to gaol,” commented Mr. F*. K. Hunt, S.M., at the Police Court this morning, convicting the woman and ordering her to come up for sentence when called upon. Paton, alias Myra McKerman, alias Marion Alice Vincent, a, domestic, aged 49, was charged with stealing, at Hamilton on August 5, two pairs of stockings, five yards of linen and a. yard, of silk of a total value of 30s, the property of Daisy Helene Parker. Mr. Smyth entered a plea of guilty and also admitted a breach of probation, which, he said, really rose out of the other charge as accused had not reported, being frightened that she would be arrested on the theft charge. Paton had been working at a house in Hamilton and took the tilings away in her bag when she left. She bad then been on probation for false pre - fences and had made restitution ot £2O ot the £4O ordered. The woman was housekeeping in Pukekohe a>nl doing very well. She had kept straight lately. Paton was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence. A condition of the court’s leniency was that she make full restitution.
