ALASKAN FLYERS TRACED
EIELSON’S WRECKED PLANE FOUND IN SNOW BODIES UNRECOVERED Reed. 9.5 a.m. NEW YORK, Sat. The United States Army Signal Corps at Fairbanks, .Alaska, reports that the airplane in which Lieutenant Carl B. Eielson was lost has been found. The machine was wrecked. A message from Seattle says the plane was located 90 miles east
of Cape Northalava, with the engine torn from the fuselage, this testifyinfi to the violence of the impact with the earth. The bodies of Eielson and his mechanic, Borland, have not been discovered. It is feared they are buried in huge snowdrifts. Their provisions are untouched. The cabin was split open, and the wreckage strewn over a wide area. Dog teams are searching for the victims. Lieutenant Eielson and his mechanic left Skagway some time ago on a trip to a steamer imprisoned in the ice. They carried provisions for the steamer, and intended to return with the vessel’s cargo of furs.
