BURNS’S ANNIVERSARY

CELEBRATION IN AUCKLAND MUSICAL EVENING Scotsmen celebrated the anniversary of their national bard, Robert Burns, by a recital organised by the StAndrew’s Society of Auckland, in the Lewis Eady hall on Saturday evening. The principal address, on “Burns and his Works,” was given by the Rev. T. W. Armour, of Christchurch. During the evening vocal solos were contributed by Mrs. A. Rattray Miss K. Christie, Mr. F. Sutherland and Mr. L. Harvey, Mr. A. McSkimming reciting a musical monologue. Scotland’s “National Song,” the words of which were written by the immortal bard, and Auld Lang Syne were also sung.
