The Australian Jockey Club’s anniversary •dieting opened at Rand wick yesterday, in unpropitious weather, showers falling continuously throughout the afternoon. As a result the times recorded in the various events were on the slow side. The following were the results of the leading events: BONDI HANDICAP Of £500; for three-year-olds; 7 fur. CREDENCE (C. R. Smith), br c, by Chrysolaus—Dupe, 8.6, Ryan .... 1 STURT, 7.10, Coutts 2 TRAYMOBILE, 8.3, Johnstone 3 Seventeen started. Credence led all the way and won by three lengths. Time, 1.28*. WIDDEN HANDICAP Of £500; for two-year-olds; 5 fur. ROSEN DO (J. E. Brien), br c, by Rossendale—Royal Pet, 9.6, M. McCarten • DANISH (J. Scully), ch f, by Dane’s Voe—Petiller, 7.0, Ross • COHORT, 7.10, Lawla 3 •Dead-heat. Eighteen started. Caravel Boy was prominent to the straight,, where the three placed horses came into the picture, and an exciting finish resulted in a dead-heat between Rosendo and Danish, with Cohort three-quarters of a length away third, and Goldfinder fourth. Time, 1.3. CHALLENGE STAKES A handicap sweepstakes of £lO each with £1,500 added; 6 fur. VENETIAN LADV (S. Arkell), ch m, syrs, by Wolaroi—De Nancy, 8.1, J. Munro \ REMORA, 4yrs, 8.3, M. McCarten .! 2 CLEAR FLIGHT, 4yrs, 7.11, C. Rowley 3 Fourteen started. Clear Flight was one ol the first out from the barrier, but when the field settled down Duita overhauled him. Clear Flight regained the lead at the straight entrance, but at the distance Venetian Lady and Remora put In great efforts, and Venetian Lady won by two and a-half lengths from Remora. Raisin was fourth. Time, 1.14*. JANUARY HANDICAP Of £500; 1* miles. WESTERN LASS (D. U. Seaton), b m, 6yrs, by Westcourt—Woloroi Lass, 8.6, Pratt l JEYPORE, 8.7, Goldstone 2 SPEARMAN, 9.7, Johnstone 3 Thirteen started, including Patadawn. Western Lass won by half a neck. Time, 2.9 J.
