Bythell, of Blenheim, had his leg broken at Queen Charlotte Sound, in his farmer’s arms, when the latter slipped. The boy was taken to Picton, and the leg set.—P.A. * « * House Burned Down A five-roomed house owned and occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Jane was totally destroyed by fire at Taradale, near Napier, this morning. The insurances were £7OO in the Mercantile and General Office, on the house, £250 on the furniture, and £25 on a shed.— P.A. Fall From Deck A fractured skull was suffered by Mr. Harry Grocock, a carpenter, of 21 Melford Street, Ponsonby, •who fell from the boat-deck on to the main deck while working on the Union Steam Ship Company’s steamer Kairanga this morning. Mr. Grocock was repairing fin icebox when he stepped back over the edge of the deck. The injured man was removed to the hospital by the St. John Ambulance. His condition is regarded as serious.
