STRAND
“WELCOME DANGER” Gusts of rather veritable tornados of laughter accompanied the presentation of Harold Lloyd's “Welcome Hanger” at the Strand Theatre every day and night this week. It would be very hard to conceive a more fun-producing talkie than Lloyd’s first effort on the spoken screen. “Welcome Hanger” gave ample proof of diligent rehearsal and a carefully chosen cast, consequently the production was as near perfect as possible. Harold Lloyd has always catered for the juveniles as well as the adults and therefore there was no suggestion of “sex” appeal, albeit a pretty girl in support. If “Welcome Hanger” is an indication of Harold Lloyd’s future talkie productions, released by Paramount, then there is a happy time ahead of everyone. The remainder of the programme consists of a number of enjoyable short talkie features.
