Lucy Christina Meagher., was destroyed on December •• is being held before the district coroner. Mr. W. M. Wallnutt. today. Sergeant D. L. Calwell appears for police and Mr. W. Wallace, of Auckland, for the Yorkshire Insurance ' °*npany and the State Fire Insurance Department. Mr. C. J. Garland, of ‘names, is watching proceedings for Mrs. Meagher. Eleven witnesses have subpoeaned Sergeant Calwell said that the whereabouts of Meagher v. as unknown, but that, up to about a year So, the house, which was of wood nnd iron, was occupied by Mrs. Meagher and her family. Some time •irter. the house was occupied by a tenant, a relative of the Meagher, who vacated the premises three or r °ur days before the fire occurred. „ The outbreak was discovered about •••uO a.m., and the brigade was able to save the house from complete destruction. although most of the furnitl,re was rendered practically useless. After the fire, an examination by the police and the brigade superintendent h *d shown that the firej had occurred three separate places, which in ita certain amount of suspicion as to its origin.
