CANADIAN TARIFF
FARMERS SAY INDUSTRIES ARE FAVOURED OTTAWA, Tuesday. A message from Calgary says the United Farmers of Alberta, at their annual convention, will ask the Federal Government to renounce the Australian trade treaty. They say it is discriminatory, and shows special consideration to industries at the expense of Canadian agriculturists. Canada, they say, has reduced her tariff schedule on certain agricultural products, while on Australia’s part the agreement involved tariff cuts relating only to industrial goods. An immediate substantial increase in British preference is urged.
