i GAY flannel dance ORGANISED FOR CHAMPIONSHIP FUNDS NORTH SHORE FUNCTION Parish Hall at Devonport was en fete last evening, the occasion being the North Shore Amateur Swimming Club’s carnival flannel dance, in aid of the National Championsh.p funds. The hall was gaily decorated with flass and bunting, the Kit Kat Band supplying the latest and most popular musicMiss Morris and Mr. Skeet were warmly applauded for their exhibition of the quick-step and modern waltz. V Monte Carlo competition was won by Miss E. Bush and Mr. Griffin. Messrs. Bangley and Farquharson controlled the floor and extras were contributed by Mrs. Godden and Mr. Stuart McDougall. Members of the women’s committee present were. Mrs. E. W. Sharp, wHta wore black satin with an overdress of black georgette. Mrs. Farquharson chose green silk and figured jumper to tone. Mrs. F. Langley was in beige guipure lace. Others present were: Miss Phyllis Best, who wore a white ~eorgette frock: Miss Mae Mills, green floral rayon: Miss Phil Ccrttingham, cream spun silk. Blenn'erhassett and family have returned to Cambridge. # * a Miss Alice Bell, of Melbourne, is the guest of Mrs. A. McHarry at Te Arolia. Miss Miller, who has been the guest of Mr. and Mrs. George Watt at Okauia. has returned to Auckland. * * * Mr. and Mrs. and Miss Murch, of New Plymouth, who were previously residents at Te Aroha, are visiting friends there. Mrs. H. E. Salter and family have returned to Waharoa after spending a holiday at Raglan.

Mr. and Mrs. Austin Turner have returned from Tauranga, and taken up their residence at Kurunui, Morrinsville. * * * Mrs. J. Pickup and family, of Waharoa, have returned from a holiday spent at Paru.
