TAURANGA AS AIRPORT

SITES TO BE SELECTED From Our Own Correspondent TAURANGA, Wednesday. Delegates from the Borough Council, Harbour Board, Chamber of Commerce, ■with a citizens’ committee, met in conference last evening to consider the question of establishing an airport at Tauranga. The Mayor, Mr. B. C. Robins, presided. It ■w as pointed out that suitable sites were available for land and sea landing, and Tauranga would make an admirable airport. It was decided to take steps to have an airport established at Tauranga in view of the possibility of an air service between Auckland and Wellington and the East Coast being commenced. A committee was set up to select suitable sites and to get a Government officer to report on them. The committee is also to procure all information as to the working of aero clubs with a view of establishing one here.
